Sounds like he's probably diabetic, more common in blacks what Whites due to poor health choices. Only thing article referenced was blood clots, which are often caused by diabetes, in fact, 80% of people with diabetes eventually die from blood clot related causes. Sounds like Neon may not be with us much longer, which means the world will be a better place.

Diabetes my first thought too. Poor health choice and bad diet yes. No remedy as things get worse.
