“(cnn) a ground worker who was ‘ingested’ into a plane’s engine at San Antonio international airport friday died by suicide, according to the Bexar county medical examiner’s office.

“the cause of death is listed as blunt and sharp force injuries. the manner of death is listed as suicide, an office assistant for the Bexar county medical examiner’s office told cnn in a phone call.

“delta flight 1111 had arrived at San Antonio from los angeles friday and was taxiing to a gate using one engine ‘when a worker was ingested into that engine at about 10:25 p.m.,’ the national transportation safety board said in a statement to cnn on sunday evening.

“the safety board is continuing to gather information about what happened, it said. San Antonio international is working with authorities on the investigation, a spokesperson said.”

Those spinning blades in the engine must do quite a job on you. You feel probably more or less nothing. I guess it depends on what part of you goes in first.

Speaking of unique happenings, suicide by airplane would also qualify. Who would do that?

Sounds more like an attempt to avoid/short circuit any liability.

It was a white male:

[“The NTSB will not be opening an investigation into this event. There were no operational safety issues with either the airplane or the airport,” an NTSB spokesperson said, according to KEN 5."]

Regarding potential liability ("operational safety issues"), it's a very convenient finding.

Ever see some action movie where the good guy suckers the bad guy into the spinning prop of a plane? It's always the bad guys dumb enough to fall for it lol. Getting sucked into the engine isn't quite the same but maybe the idea of suicide by plane came from that? Maybe a new trend now? Well, for Whites anyways, the ones stupid enough to accidentally get sucked in will probably be more likely black airport workers.
