Holy shit, you just can't escape 'em. Even Hawaii has a Jewish senator. Here is a generous-minded tweet from him about Trump:

https://twitter.com/brianschatz/status/1668799143358128128
"It appears Donald Trump was treated somewhat more leniently than if he were named Donald Jones. Which is, I think, fine. But let’s not lie about his treatment by DOJ. They’ve been pretty deferential and slow and soft."

Yeah, that's a pretty good way to describe the way Trump has been treated ever since he won the election: "leniently". Not to mention "deferential and slow and soft". That guy is always getting the benefit of the doubt, amiright?

And he's a "climate hawk".

Another one for the guillotine.

Ted Wheeler, usually woke mayor of the progressive paradise of PDX and the city council, finally do something in the interest of the White middle class:

https://www.kgw.com/article/news/local/homeless/portland-city-council-daytime-homeless-camping-ban-passed/283-c3e58769-87f1-4c19-8593-f8b8249ffb7f

Normally I'm against anything that institutes new governmental rules and regulations governing our live but in this case, I'm all for it. No, not being hypocritical, just acknowledging that there are realities in life that require compromise and balance. I attended a local neighborhood meeting re this issue and after listening to a series of street people and woke ideologues get up and slam the new rules stated this to the crowd:

"I'm not in favor of criminalizing homelessness but as a homeowner just want one thing. To have some form of leverage and control over the problem in certain circumstances. I don't want cops to harass every person they see sleeping on the streets, I just want to be able to call the cops or the city and have them do something if a homeless camp sets up on the empty lot next to my house, or if I was a business owner and homeless tents pop up on the sidewalk in front of my business and I have a 60% drop in customers as a result. It's not unreasonable for me to expect the city and police force, both of which us taxpayers support, to help us out in those situations. We don't want to wait for sweeps that could take months to arrive and do nothing to keep them from popping right back up the next day, we want something done immediately and permanently. What will happen is that homeless people will be pushed out farther and into areas where they are not disturbing anyone, which is what they did before former mayor Hales declared it was unconstitutional to enforce no camping ordnances. They survived before and they'll survive now, but they will also be more careful about cleaning up after themselves, engaging in criminality or harassing people because they won't want to draw attention to themselves for fear of being rousted by police. Yes, they will be inconvenienced and need to be better behaved but everybody deals with inconvenience in life and must observe certain rules of etiquette (unless you are a negro...no, I didn't say that, just thought it), being homeless doesn't mean you should never have to deal with some inconvenience in life either".

"That's it, simple as that, the typical homeowner, renter or business owner want to have some leverage to deal with the problem if it impacts them. That's all we really want, then we can talk about how to deal with the problem on a broader level, just give us back some control".

I got the biggest hand of the night after saying that but also some boo's hisses and dagger looks of anger from people in the crowd.

Part 2

Of course, how these new rules will be implemented is still being sorted out and I'm uncertain if it will mean a homeowner can call up and get a camp next to their house removed immediately but I hope so. My house is right next to a thrift store that had a small homeless camp set up in a brushy area on it's property so they set up a metal fence to keep them out but there is still a "dead area" next to my home that attracts overnight campers in motor homes, vans and small vehicles. I can deal with an occasional overnight camper like that but have been holding my breath that long term campers might in at some point. Only reason it hasn't happened yet, I think, is because it's not close to homeless services and the grassy strips are pretty narrow for tents to set up on, but I've seen them in smaller areas so it could still happen.

As for the city counsel vote, Mingus Mapps, the male black counselor didn't show up for the vote, don't know why, but he was against it, maybe it was in protest because he knew it was going to pass whether he was there or not. Also, Carmen Rubio, or lone republican, or should I say rino, was the only no vote. I suppose the good news is that all our democrat councelors voted for it, but they have been under tremendous pressure to do something about the homeless problem which has spiraled out of control to the point it's driving people and businesses out of the city.

When you said "We want something DONE,"it reminded me of the M*A*S*H* episode where Hawkeye refused to eat the swill they were serving anymore--the "Adam's Ribs" episode.Kudos to you for speaking up,"Hawk".Any thoughts of running for city commission?

Nothing new here--decades ago I was in architecture school and they had a Hispanic Marxist teaching courses like "Socialism for America"--as architecture courses. I dropped his crap courses and then found I wasn't admitted to architecture design classes. In one class taught at the instructor's house, I discovered Mao's Little Red Book on a string hanging by the toilet--for convenient reading while on the john. I was so tempted to switch the Little Red Book with the toilet paper--but figured he would know who did it and I didn't want to fail the class.
