Bruce Maxwell (hispanic? part black?) catcher for the Oakland A's and first MLB'r to kneel for the anthem, has been arrested on a gun charge. He allegedly pointed a gun at a female food service worker. http://nypost.com/2017/10/29/oakland-as-catcher-busted-for-allegedly-pointing-gun-at-woman/
I can't find any more details on the background story, though there might not be much of one, maybe he's just a thug in a baseball uniform who acts out violently for the sake of it, we've got no shortage of those in pro sports. This story just hit the news, we'll see what comes out later.
Maybe the same psychosis that caused him to feel the need to point a gun at a woman is the same one that gives him some sort of feeling of validation when kneeling.
Here is Maxwell self righteously displaying his protest form: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/09/26/07/44B8816C00000578-4920156-Bruce_Maxwell_of_the_Oakland_Athletics_kneels_as_teammate_Mark_C-a-62_1506406135374.jpg
Note the white teammate behind him placing a sympathetic hand on his shoulder. Must be one of those white ass kissing lackeys who wants to be seen as being down with the bro's.

Great song written by Eugene Record and Sonny Sanders. Originally sung by Barbara Acklin who had a hit with it in 1968. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZzIl25d6_0

Then a band named Young-Holt took the backing track, overlaid a jazzy keyboard instrumental playing the melody and renamed it "Soulful Strut", they scored a hit with it in 1969. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yX1XSOzDPik

That was back in the golden age of soul music when black artists actually wrote real songs with great melodies and lyrics, then soul music was hijacked by racists who think that rap is the penultimate form of music, went away from messages of hope, unity and moving forward, dispensed with melody and focused on black victimization and promoting a black supremacist message. I've tried to listen to current soul music and while there is an occasional flash of that old melodic and unpretentious lyrical brilliance, most of the time it's agonizing to listen to. Plus, singers nowadays try to make up for weak melodic lines by oversinging with all sorts of useless ornamentation (just watch them on AI the Voice or other singing shows).

If you haven't done a Don Rickles tribute, it's still not too late. Here he is at the 2008 Academy Awards being his inimitable irreverent irascible self: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04OVDL3cVm4
I laughed more in the 4 minutes he was onstage than I think I've laughed in 50 yrs. of watching the Academy Awards. Check out Stephen Colbert at 2:03 in helpless hysterics, a talentless hack watching a true comedic master work a crowd. Kathy Griffin has to yell at the crow to stand for Don, can you believe how clueless this audience is? She had to TELL THEM? They should have been on their feet the moment his feet hit the stage. I generally find Kathy Griffin to be more annoying than anything else but she was right on the money here.

Don Rickles never compromised, never apologized for or changed his brand of acidic non PC humor. He didn't care if you were the janitor or the biggest star and greatest singer of his generation (Sinatra), you'd get skewered just the same, but he did it in a way that you just had to love him for it. I've heard it said that insult humor is a cheap way to get laughs but in Rickles case, he elevated it to an art form. He didn't need planned material, he could improvise humor out nothing, only a comedians comedian can do that. The dear now departed Rickles, along with the late Robin Williams and Jonathan Winters, (IMHO) are the greatest improvisational comedians ever and their like may never be seen again. I miss them but Don most of all.

Here is Don onstage with Billy Crystal, Whoopie Goldberg and Robin Williams at Comic Relief V, showing the whippersnappers how it's really done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZysRZ6k0ag
