After 18 Years, “Disappearing Crime” is an Overnight Sensation (My New VDARE Report is Up!)

The late Jack Maple, the father of “Compstat,” or as I call it, fakestat, right, in his ever-present spats, and wearing a straw hat

Present and former New York City police Commissioner William Bratton, left, is not a fan of this writer. (He, or at least his chief flack, tried to get me fired several years ago.) Right, Mayor-elect Bill Wilhelm De Blasio looks on during press conference introducing Bratton.

“Stix Vindicated! Academics, Magazine Confirm Big City Police are ‘Disappearing’ Crime.”
By Nicholas Stix on April 26, 2014 at 12:15am

Exactly ten years ago, May 26, 2004, I published my first major VDARE.com exposé of how big-city police departments were systematically fudging statistics to “disappear” urban crime. Now a white-hot exposé in Chicago Magazine, and a major academic study, have confirmed I was right. I don’t get credit, of course, but whatcha gonna do.

Journalists David Bernstein and Noah Isackson write:

With the stroke of a computer key, [Tiara Groves] was airbrushed out of Chicago’s homicide statistics….

For the case of Tiara Groves is not an isolated one. Chicago conducted a 12-month examination of the Chicago Police Department’s crime statistics going back several years, poring through public and internal police records and interviewing crime victims, criminologists, and police sources of various ranks. We identified 10 people, including Groves, who were beaten, burned, suffocated, or shot to death in 2013 and whose cases were reclassified as death investigations, downgraded to more minor crimes, or even closed as noncriminal incidents—all for illogical or, at best, unclear reasons.

And it’s not just corpses that get misclassified….

Nick, I believe he is wearing two tone shoes, not spats. Spats were popular in the 20s, they were a covering from the shoe upper, up to the ankle or knee.

I know this because when I was young I saw some 1920s gangsters on 60sTV, and wondered what they were.

I could be wrong, would not be either the first time, nor the last time. Of this I'm sure.

What's his name, the short fat one, might have looked more his part in a porkpie.

Since both guys are wearing the same two tone shoes, perhaps that is their equivalent to a secret handshake, identifying others as members of the same conspiracy. The guy with the hat being the higher up.

In any event, I realize you did some good detective work on your own on the disappearing crime stats.

This is part and parcel of liberal ideology.

See what we tell you to see, don't see what we tell you not to see. One of the new, 10 commandments, of the emerging faith of liberalism. No dissenters either.

Well, negros raping and murdering whites daily; and then the cop asks, other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?

Yupper, FTS, I'm PDK, Thanks.

I have been saying much the same thing for years. And it goes much further than just crime stats. The entire american culture and worldview is shaped by a massive web of false, bogus, massaged or misleading statistics.

Stats on college education graduates income and employment, inflation and other economics stats, worker income stats, all these and more are either false or deliberately manipulated in order to mislead.

EVeryone knows the soviet union and other socialist empires were controlled by their elites through propaganda. But the American propaganda is so good that it has the entire populace in its thrall.

I read somewhere that the Russians are surprised at how afraid of the media propaganda the Americans are here in the US. Americans are more afraid of the media here than the Russians were of the communist party that ruled Russia.
To me that is surprising as the same people that control the media here are the same people that controlled Russia during it's communist hey day.
