Truck stop magazines - given away free at truck stops and financed by ads for driver recruiting - have for over a decade openly advertised "No NYC" or "No Forced NYC" or "No Forced Dispatch" - an indication of how metro NYC has a longtime reputation as trucker hell for hijackings, shakedowns by cops, etc.

During the time Giuliani was in office as mayor of NYC five cartage companies that would not do business began delivering and hauling and NYC. That was how much things improved.
These long-haul truckers were interviewed about their jobs. Asked about how dangerous it was, replied: The first five miles and the last five miles are very dangerous, the in between is very safe!" The first and last five miles the inner city of USA. Mostly inhabited by blacks and browns.
