MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. — The suspect in the MI Bar shooting that left one person dead Thursday is wanted by the Norton Shores Police Department for murder. Police say the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Kyle Robbins, 40, is described as a white man around six feet tall and 180 pounds. He is from the Muskegon area.

Robbins is accused of killing Andre Willie Garner, 27, of Muskegon, early Thursday morning. Police believe a fist fight started at MI Bar before Robbins allegedly shot Garner multiple times.

Police conducted searches around Norton Shores Thursday in an attempt to locate Robbins.

Documents show Robbins has served nearly 13 years in prison and has a history of weapons charges. He was briefly paroled in 2004 for about nine months but was eventually sent back to prison.

GRA: As my theory stated—ex-con. Nothing on Garner’s past, though.

N.S.: And things being what they are, we may never hear about Garner’s past.

Whitey guy acting badly. It does happen even in the interracial crime. But the whitey guy did serve a lot of time. Probably has a lotta animus toward the negro race generally.

"has a lotta animus toward the negro race "

Incarceration with negroes often results in a lot of animus toward them.

SELF DEFENSE AGAINST BLACK ATTACKER REASON FOR SHOOTING BY ROBBINS
--ROBBINS' ATTORNEY TERRY NOLAN

(Mlive.com)NORTON SHORES, MI -- A man shot and killed in a Norton Shores bar was the new boyfriend of the alleged shooter’s ex, prosecutors said.

Kyle Dekker Robbins, 40, was arraigned in Muskegon County District Court on Tuesday, Dec. 21 on charges of open murder, felony firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Judge Raymond Kostrzewa set a $2 million bond.

The shooting happened about 1:25 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at MI Bar, 2389 W. Sherman Boulevard.

Norton Shores police said Robbins and 27-year-old Andre Willie Garner were in a fist fight near the bar area when Robbins allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Garner.

Police could not find Robbins after the shooting.

But early Tuesday, Robbins turned himself in. He called 911 from the park-and-ride lot at Harvey Street and East Hile Road and Norton Shores police arrested him around 2 a.m. without incident. He was taken to the Muskegon County Jail.

During his arraignment, Muskegon County Assistant Prosecutor Amol Huprikar noted the relationship between the victim and suspect as the judge weighed factors in setting bond.

He said the victim was in a relationship with the ex-girlfriend of Robbins.

Defense attorney Terry Nolan called for a reasonable bond because he likely will present a self-defense argument at trial. Nolan said he was told the shooting was caught on the bar’s surveillance video cameras.

“I haven’t seen the video tape. I’ve been told of the the video tape and it confirms what my client told me. That he was in the bar minding his own business when he was violently attacked from behind by a very, very large(black)man. And it’s at that point that he shoots him, or that shots are fired and this individual goes down,” Nolan said.
