As John Williams of shadowstats.com has pointed out, if the annual rate of inflation was still calculated the way it was back in 1980, it would be about 15 percent right now.

R.C.: Got a burger the other night at the nearby Wendy's drive-thru.
The price of their large chicken salad was $9.79 on the sign in the drive-thru lane.
Just over a year ago the price for the very same meal was approximately $7.92.
Do the math.
