This amounts to a sob story with a scholarly veneer.
Example excerpt:
Jason De León, a professor of anthropology and Chicana/o and Central American studies at the University of California at Los Angeles and a co-author of the study, said, "prevention through deterrence has weaponized the natural environment against migrants and killed thousands of people in the process. This new research quantifies the effects this policy has on the human body and helps build a case that the policy knowingly puts people in harm's way in the name of border security."
AOF: Oh, boo hoo.
It's based on a current article in Science magazine. I probably have access, and may be downloading it.

Climate change nuts can't think straight. If turd world inhabitants move here, their carbon footprint will greatly increase, thus, according to the mythology, increasing climate change. So those wanting to fight climate change should be for sealing the borders.

It's not the first and it won't be the last.
Nevertheless, the test will come via the first real, legally and 'scientifically' grounded asylum claim based on climate -- every signatory of the 1951 refugee treaty (and its 1967 protocol/addition) is theoretically vulnerable to such claims for asylum -- then everything will depend on the decisions courts make and the precedent they set re such climate asylum applications -- nations will then have to choose between aligning themselves and their asylum practices with the court decisions, or ignoring these decisions, perhaps also by abrogating the 1951 refugee treaty.
>their carbon footprint will greatly increase
I don't think this will matter so much -- some parts of the world will be portrayed as more vulnerable to the overall effects of climate change (e.g. rising average temperature).
Here's another kind of asylum claim you may be seeing more of in the future:

As I reported earlier this year, Gypsies are leaving Romania, flying to Mexico en masse and crossing our southern border to claim "asylum" from "racism."
A tweet from Reuters from earlier in 2021 is highlighted:
Twitter/Reuters -- Scores of Romanians who are part of the Roma ethnic minority have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border in south Texas in recent weeks to seek asylum. Many have been flying in from Paris to Mexico City as tourists
White nations must take this seriously and react appropriately, because as I think should already be apparent, the 1951 refugee treaty now poses a very serious demographic threat to these nations (in addition to their foolish immigration/migration policies).
Never trust anyone who includes the little squiggle above the letter. Like this amigo does with the letter O in his name.
Much that border with Mex is rough to very rough country. You get lost or get injured you might die and never be found. NOT because of the climate.
"claim 'asylum' from 'racism.'"
How can anyone claim asylum from racism in the USA? USA is the most horrible country in the world with regard to racism. Just ask this Kendi fellow. The negro agitator.
