Yeah but the black Nigerian “bodybuilding, aspiring actors” testified against him (link):

Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo, the bodybuilding, aspiring actors Smollett allegedly recruited to help him stage the attack ... both said they were taken aback when Smollett allegedly suggested a “crazy idea” to make it look like two supporters of President Donald Trump had attacked the actor so he could post surveillance footage of it on social media. ... Both brothers testified Smollett drove them around their Lake View neighborhood on Jan. 25 to broach the plan and took them on a “dry run” two days later in Streeterville to choreograph how the attack would unfold. ... After they were arrested at O’Hare Airport two weeks after the attack, when they returned from visiting family and friends in Nigeria, the brothers flipped on Smollett, ...

It’s just a coincidence that they both left immediately afterward to “visit family and friends in Nigeria.”

For anyone wondering (link):

The brothers, identified by Schmidt [ed: their lawyer] as Abimbola “Abel” Osundairo and Olabinjo Osundairo, are of Nigerian descent. But they told a reporter at cbs2-chicago that they were “born and raised in Chicago and are American citizens.” ... Abimbola Osundairo, 25, graduated from Lake View High School in Chicago, where he participated in football, track and field, soccer and wrestling, before joining the football team at Quincy University in western Illinois, according to a football profile on the university’s website. Olabinjo Osundairo, 27, also was on the Quincy football team and had attended Latmos Comprehensive College in Lagos, Nigeria, according to his football profile.

It’s rather unusual for someone born in the US to attend a school in Lagos, Nigeria —?
