TCPalm blogger Will Greenlee writes on crime, which means that he frequently writes on blacks behaving badly. Thus, he must use his creative powers to give a wry, humanizing treatment to quotidian savagery.

In the instant case, the arrest report said that after Officers Sarmiento and Cunzo arrived at the scene, and cuffed suspect Albert Wesley and placed him in their squad car, Wesley claimed that the woman had spat on him. However, they could find no witnesses to support his claim. The arresting officer who wrote the report, Officer Cunzo, implied that Wesley had only made up the “spitting” story once he was in the squad car, in order to retroactively justify throwing the coffee on the woman.

Officer Cunzo reported that the victim showed the officers coffee stains on her blouse, but did not have any burn marks.

'Jigging' cited in Fort Pierce coffee attack, report states

A 38-year-old man who said a woman was "jigging" at him was arrested after accusations of tossing coffee on her.

What could be called the case of the careening coffee began brewing the morning of April 17 in the 600 block of Avenue B as a woman told Fort Pierce police Albert Wesley had thrown java on her, a recently released arrest affidavit states.

"She kept jigging (bothering) at me so I threw coffee at her," Wesley is quoted as saying.

The affidavit didn't specify what the jigging was about.

Police noticed coffee stains on the woman's shirt, and took Wesley to jail.

The jigging to which Wesley referred is not to be confused with a practice of the same name in which anglers use jigs, or specially designed lures, to catch fish.

A variation of jig is featured in the name of the hit Will Smith song, "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It," from the 1997 "Big Willie Style" album.

Jigging is also not to be mistaken for gigging, the practice of hunting fish or frogs with a multi-pronged spear.

Other definitions for jig include an irregular, lively dance typically in triple meter, and a device to separate coal or ore from waste material.

Meanwhile, with Wesley's arrest on a battery charge, some might say the situation was done or over, a state described by the term, "The jig is up."
