Plot: The story of a poor young woman, separated by prejudice from her husband and baby, is interwoven with tales of intolerance from throughout history.
In 1915, D.W. Griffith completed and released The Birth of a Nation, then and for many years thereafter, the most ambitious and brilliant moving picture ever made. It was also one of the most commercially successful pictures ever made. However, the picture was very controversial. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People sought to make it impossible for anyone to see it.
Griffith-haters will tell you that they despise him for having defamed the black race, but they’re lying. They are mad, not because Griffith lied about the negro, but because he was so ruthlessly honest about him.
The following year, Griffith created a new epic, as an answer to his critics. That response is here for your viewing pleasure. Unfortunately, Intolerance bombed at the box office.
In her forties, Mae Marsh (Flora Cameron, the Pet Sister, in Birth, and “the dear one,” in Intolerance), became a member of the John Ford Stock Company, and appeared, as an extra, in no fewer than 17 of Ford’s pictures.

People might like D.W. because of Birth of a Nation but he did revolutionize the film industry. Of that there is no doubt.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Police in Grand Rapids are investigating after three people were hurt when shots were fired near a bar late Friday.
It happened at 11:58 p.m. outside the Metro Grand Rapids bar, located on South Division Avenue near Rose StreetGRA:Division,for 2 miles up and down,and two to three miles wide,is black ghetto )
Grand Rapids police say two people had gunshot wounds when they arrived. It is unclear if the third person was shot or injured some other way during the incident. All three people are adults and are expected to survive.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Two men were stabbed and one man was arrested in Grand Rapids early Saturday morning.
It happened on Lyon St NW near Division Avenue just before 3 a.m.
Grand Rapids police say both stabbing victims are expected to survive their injuries, and believe all the men knew each other.
