Bob Lansing (1928-1994) was the original star of Twelve O’Clock High, but he unfortunately had ideas of his own about how to play Brig. Gen. Frank Savage, so producer Quinn Martin got rid of him after one season, replacing him with Paul Burke.
Burke, an original cast member, was good, but not good enough, and so the series was canceled in January, 1967, after two-and-a-half seasons.
