Below is from an email I sent on January 7, 2021:
It can't.
I remember a visit to D.C before --- died.
-------- and I went to pick up --- at the train station in Alexandria. It was Christmas time and he had returned from visiting his parents in North Carolina.
Drove across 14th Street Bridge and up through the Palisades area in far Northwest corner of D.C. after picking up ---. But first we drove around all the federal buildings.
Federal agencies like USAID and DHS had cyclone fencing around the periphery of the buildings. Polycarbonate hemispheres cloaking closed circuit cameras hung from the eaves of the buildings. Razor wire topped the cyclone fencing. Out of service D.C. cop cars guarded the buildings.
This was before Trump was elected.
So, impenetrable security guarding federal buildings well over 5 years ago.
