Check out the high rate of speed at which she is moving, either she is drunk out of her mind or this was a suicide attempt. She's one of those actresses just as well know for her strange behavior as her acting, this from NNDB:
Actress Anne Heche (pronounced haytch) has a reputation for being a little crazy, fueled by her autobiography, Call Me Crazy. She has said that she was sexually abused by her father until she was 12 years old, and that the experience drove her insane and gave her genital herpes. By her mid-20s, Heche says she had two personalities, herself and "Celestia", an alien from another planet who could talk to dead people, see into the future, and was a half-sister of Jesus Christ.
Heche's mother, a successful psychotherapist, says that during her 25-year-marriage to Heche’s father she never suspected that he was molesting their daughter -- and she still does not believe it. She also never suspected that her husband, a Baptist minister, was sleeping with other men, until he revealed his gay escapades to his family shortly before dying of AIDS in 1983. Heche's mother now encourages homosexuals to "convert" to straightness, and claims that her prayers led her daughter Anne to become straight again after her long affair with comedian Ellen DeGeneres. Heche's sister, Susan Bergman, was the author of Anonymity, a book about her father's long-closeted life and the impact his revelation and death on their family.
Heche has never claimed to be lesbian, and says that with the exception of DeGeneres, all her romantic entanglements have been with men, including rocker Lindsey Buckingham, actor Steve Martin.
Was she really molested by her father? Who knows but it's chic for women to claim they were sexually abused nowadays and makes for a convenient excuse for bizarre behavior so I take those claims with a big grain of salt.

I was curious if she was just another Hollyweird Wokester but couldn't find anything online about her political beliefs. Whatever they are, she doesn't appear to be particularly outspoken.
According to early reports, she suffered extensive burns all over her body, even if she survives she may well be permanently and severely disfigured. Too bad, I checked out some recent photos of her and she still looked pretty good for a woman of a certain age.
Race of Poindexter not mentioned. Lots of negro have that last name for some reason. Some master with that name must have been a major slave owner. Hairston a very popular negro name too.
Most of the colored [and those of other races too] just do not know how to handle a firearm in a safe manner.
