I remember experiencing that as a child back in the 60's and early 70's. Except it was at the Portland zoo in front of the monkey cages. That was when they didn't separate the public from the apes with plexiglass, they had cages made out of metal bars and you could walk right up to them and get a close up view (and smell) of the animals. It was well known that the monkeys would sometimes fling things disgusting things at the crowd, and if it happened, you just got cleaned up and dealt with the trauma. They really were kind of nasty vicious little buggers. I remember a grade school field trip with the teachers nervously herding us kids toward the back away from the bars, just in case.
The zoo sure was a lot more fun in those days than it is now.
Now don't get excited, I'm not comparing gypsies to monkeys...would I do such a thing? I mean it's not like they're black or something...just kidding. Sort of.
