GRA:
From what I heard tonight on court tv, because of the way the jury instructions are written concerning assault, there’s almost no way for the jury to not convict Chauvin of murder. The prosecution worded the assault part of the deliberations in such a way that it automatically forces the jury to convict Chauvin—if they believe Chauvin intended to assault Floyd. The prosecution made the point that the only way Chauvin did not intend to assault Floyd would be “if Chauvin fell on him.”
The rest, it was analyzed by the panel—including an incredulous Vinnie Politan—would automatically convict Chauvin of at least Second-degree murder. This was done without objection by Chauvin's attorney Eric Nelson. Like N.S. always stated—was this trial a sham and a set-up?
From tonight’s proceedings—YES.
