“Checks and balances,” anyone? A decent republican house would slam the brakes on all that nonsense – Trump, Navarro, Bannon, Flynn, the J6 prisoners – and say, “Absolutely nothing gets passed; until we get this fixed, it’s the mother of all shutdowns (and NO back pay for federal employees for this vacation).”
But they wimped out. Business as usual. doj and DC courts and jails will be fully funded in the september spending sham. Also disappointed that the long-ago truckers’ idea of boycotting new york gigs didn”t take root.

I agree. Republicans are wimps at best--part of the Deep State at worst. Shut it all down. I receive Social Security but would gladly forego payment to me if the government could be shut down and cleaned up. And don't allow them to shut down public lands--keep them open--we can do without the government enforcers. No money for the FBI, DOJ, CIA, and all the other corrupt thugs.
