I missed seeing a shooting “by that much”; nEGRO filled up with bullets, a block away from where I was driving

GRA: I was driving on Seward and 7th at that time, a block away from broadway and 7th, where a drive-by took place friday afternoon.

“grand rapids, mich. (wood) — police say a man is in critical condition after a shooting on grand rapids’ west side friday afternoon.

“shots were reportedly fired around 3:30 p.m. outside, near 7th street nw and broadway avenue nw, according to grand rapids police department chief Eric Winstrom.

“Winstrom said a man arrived at the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. the man is alive, Winstrom told news 8 around 5:30 p.m., but is in critical condition.

“police do not have a suspect, according to the police chief. he said police believe that it was a targeted incident and there were vehicles involved, but it’s too soon to tell whether it was a drive-by shooting.”

GRA: Twenty years ago, this area was a Polish stronghold. Now, you roll the dice driving through this “mixed” part of grand rapids.
