"exclusive: subway calls 'emergency' meeting with franchisees as sales plummet: sources"

"'they are doing crazy coupons,' the franchisee griped. 'our gross sales are not even at 2012 levels, and profit then was five times what it is today.'"

What is it,eight bucks for a foot long, cold cut trio? 'nuff said.

Now today,I went shopping and decided to pick up a cheap can of peaches.A few months ago,one can cost $1.49.

Today:$2.59.

Just part of the inflation going on these days.

There's a long history of Subway franchisees complaining about getting squeezed by corporate's promotions. This is an ongoing story with deep roots. See also: check out the prices of the pre-made packaged subs at Walmart. Says $6.67 - though this may vary depending on whatever location info Walmart gleans from your web query. Walmart subs search. So add the overhead of the poor Subway worker having to take the order and assemble it on-demand ... $15.00 per hour breaks down into $1.25 per five-minute time slice, plus SocSec/Medicare/Unemployment taxes and all the other overhead. Non-taxable tips is hardly a comfort.
