I needed to find a word that was not ready to hand. The closest term I could come up with was “escort,” so I punched in “Escort” + “synonyms” at google.
The word I sought, “chaperone,” was in the list at #9, but another word, the most popular word for which “escort” today functions as a euphemism, was missing: “prostitute.” Well, if you searched the list long enough, you’d find “gigolo” at 40, and “courtesan” at 43. However, those are both fancier terms than “prostitute,” which is the proper meaning for “escort” today.
Some readers will recall that when racist, black rape hoaxer and future murderer, Crystal Gail Mangum was committing the Duke Rape Hoax, back in 2006-2007, seeking to railroad and shake down three White Duke lacrosse players, the media always referred to her as “an exotic dancer” and “escort,” instead of the plain English terms, “stripper” and “prostitute.” At the time, the pretend encyclopedia, better known as wikipedia, disappeared her entry altogether.
google had censored the proper contemporary synonym of “escort” from its online dictionary.
