The University of Michigan Has At Least 82 Full-Time Diversity Officers at a Total Annual Payroll Cost of $10.6M. That Would Support Full In-State Tuition for 708 Students.
Also remember the Univ of Michigan was the defendant in Grutter v Bollinger (2003), where SCOTUS decided the state had a 'compelling interest' in diversity, and midwit (now retired) justice Sandra Day O'Connor said affirmative action would only be necessary for the next 25 years.
