"Figuring out what caused this increase is a bit of a challenge," Anderson said. "The homicide rate was inching up overtime [sic] prior to this, but the fact that this occurred in conjunction with the pandemic means that the pandemic probably had an impact. But we can't say that for sure."

In my research,I can only reply that two probabilities can be deduced to explain why murders are up:
1.) There are more blacks in our country killing other people or 2.)the same amount of blacks are killing other people more often.
I will include Mex,Muslims and other subgroups including Somalis,DRs,Cubans,Afghans and other criminal types from South American countries in this highly researched statement(I thought about it for about 10 seconds)

OH GOD. This is so hard to figure out. The state of lawlessness as a result of the riots in 2020 and the police presence and proactive approach gone. Nothing more than that. Bad folks just taking advantage of a situation.
