Watch the NASDAQ on Monday to see if they're worried at Google and Facebook.

Section 230 is based on the idea that internet providers are just forums and it's people who post them that are responsible for what they post, not the providers themselves. Therefore they should be immune from lawsuits. Basically making free speech the priority.
Of course, most people who read Nicholas's column and post online know well and good that the internet providers do not consider themselves open forums but private enterprises with every right to censor. I've been kicked off half the places I like to post and will eventually be removed from 90% of them, but most people reading this have experienced the same and know that it's people who express non left wing opinions that get kicked off, they have their standard reasons why but we all know it's politically motivated.
Problem with big internet providers is that they are not just some guy with a blog, they are essentially monopolies and just a few are in control of 99% of the discourse online, which changes everything. It's one area I believe there should be some government regulation, something I'm not normally crazy about but the government should treat the internet like they did cable TV when it first arrived. They had the attitude that running a cable network was a privilege the cable broadcasters set a certain amount of space aside for public broadcasting which was not to be regulated or interfered with. It resulted in a lot of weird stuff being broadcast but people had the freedom to express what they wanted without worrying about commercial interest and being censored by liberal idiots. The internet should be treated the same way, the lib twits that run Facebook, Google, Twitter etc... think they invented the internet, but they did not, they don't have a right to control the internet, it should be considered a privilege for them to get rich off it, but respect freedom of speech as number one. We have allowed those egocentric asses to do as they please and they run the net as their own personal political forum.
So as far as I'm concerned section 230 can be eliminated, it's not stopping them from censoring the hell out the internet and silencing conservative voices anyways.
