More MMM (TM)/Texas Justice: Three Gang-Banging Brothers in Baytown Have Confessed to a Ten-Year-Old Double Murder

The three murderous Sanchez brothers. I tried first to find photos of the victims, Juan Grimaldo and Fernando Salinas, because victims come first at WEJB/NSU, but could find none at Google Images.

BAYTOWN, Texas -
Baytown police say three brothers have confessed to their part in a double murder mystery from a decade ago.

It's been 10 painful years, but time has not healed the pain of two Baytown families. On Sept. 11, 2004, their loved ones -- 19-year-old Juan Grimaldo and 19-year-old Fernando Salinas -- were found shot to death. They were shot multiple times. Now they welcome news of the arrests of three suspects and, police say, a confession.

"To thank them for after so many years finally somebody is going to pay for the crime," Sandra Salinas, a relative of a victim, said at a Friday press conference.

The shootings happened at an apartment complex in the 4600 [sic] of Village Lane. The double murders remained unsolved until Baytown police reopened the case in March 2013. That led to the arrest of three brothers -- Jason, Pedro and David Sanchez.

"Because of the long hours and diligent work of the detectives they were able to file capital murder charges against David Sanchez," said Edgar Elizondo, with the Baytown Police Department.

Investigators say David Sanchez, 32, admitted to shooting the victims and they say his brothers, 35-year-old Jason and 31-year-old Pedro, admitted beating them.

"There was a home invasion at their grandmother's house," said Elizondo. "Talking to suspects they were upset and they believed one of the guys was a suspect in that home invasion and it turned out it was not a suspect in that home invasion."

While relieved about the arrests, the victim's family members are still left to grieve and wonder what could have been.

"I wish I would have been able to see them and the life he could have had," said Grimaldo's sister, Diana Hargrave.

He had so many plans, many, many plans that we're not going to get to find out what would have been of him...and us with him in our lives," said Salinas.

In March 2013, Baytown police detectives reopened the case after receiving new information about potential suspects. Several interviews were conducted and new warrants for persons of interest in the case were issued.

Then on Wednesday, detectives apprehended the Sanchez brothers.
