I thought the joke was,"The star of Hogan's Heroes took a trip to Russia in 1968.The Russian,welcoming him at the Moscow airport,said,"You Crane?"

Eastern Europeans, especially the Russian, the last group of white people who engage in donnybrook street brawls on a regular basis. Not to kill, just to fight.
