This Monday is President’s Day. On Monday Night TCM shows four films on American presidents.

At 8 p.m. ET PT-109 (1963) with Cliff Robertson as John F. Kennedy on JFK’s WW II exploits. Lewis Milestone was the original director but was either fired or quit. A TV director, Leslie Martinson, finished the film. PT-109 is pretty accurate, but without any back story of how Jack Kennedy came to be in the Pacific Theater. The best thing about PT-109 is it shows how America felt about itself in 1963.

John Ford’s Young Mr. Lincoln (1939) with Henry Fonda comes next, followed by Sunrise at Campobello (1960), screenplay by Dore Schary with Ralph Bellamy and Greer Garson, and William Dieterle’s Tennessee Johnson (1942) with Van Heflin.

N.S.: I’ve heard wonderful things about Tennessee Johnson, an Andrew Johnson biopic. Then again, it stars Van Heflin and was directed by William Dieterle.

Young Mr. Lincoln (1939): “Ann Rutledge’s Theme”

Ann Rutledge (1813-1835) was the young railsplitter’s great love. Unfortunately, she died young of a fever, of unknown provenance. This theme, by the great Alfred Newman, left such an indelible impression on Jack Ford, that when he made his last great picture, the tragedy The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962), he re-used it—and a little cactus plant—to embody the love that Hallie (Vera Miles) would always feel for Tom Doniphon (John Wayne), even if she did leave him for his friend, Ransom Stoddard (Jimmy Stewart). The scenes using “the Ann Rutledge Theme” are by far the most moving in Ford’s last classic.

Sanna Marin, 37 yr. old Prime Minister of Finland and party girl (remember the video of her partying and dancing?), reveals how she really feels about immigration in this 60 Minutes interview from last night: https://www.cbsnews.com/video/sanna-marin-finland-60-minutes-video-2023-02-19/#x

At 11:10 she speaks about immigration:

If we say don't come (immigrants) it would be very dangerous (why?) - our population is aging - we need more people - because then we wouldn't have that that economic growth and new jobs - when the far right says don't come, it's very wrong and very dangerous - it would be a catastrophe if we left the EU, we are a small country with an aggressive neighbor, we have no other choice but to stay with the EU.

The only valid point she makes is about the threat of Russian aggression and the need to ally with the West to repel it but how is that related to immigration? Likely because the EU requires member states to accept a certain number of turd world migrants every year and she knows it's part of the deal. Everything else is globalist propaganda, you don't need immigration and explosive population growth to have a healthy economy.

From Pew research:

Projecting from 2010 data, Pew Research Center estimated that in 2016 about 2.7% of Finland's 5.5 million population was Muslim. In the high migration scenario, Finland's Muslim population could grow to 15% by 2050 which would equal almost a million Muslims in Finland.[3]

Those are just Muslims though, there are plenty of Paki's and non Muslim Africans also migrating to Finland.

Sanna Marin was raised by lesbians and considers herself to be a member of the "rainbow" coalition though she herself is straight and has a husband. With that background how could she be anything but a far left ideologue? She's a beautiful young woman but she's also an evil traitor to her own race and culture.

Earlier in her career she had taken a more hawkish stance on immigration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHkpfiWhe9o

She has subsequently changed her attitude on immigration deciding that open borders is the way to go. I don't believe she ever intended to slow down immigration, I think she felt that way all along, she was just trying to be more of a centrist to mollify the right wing elements that want to keep Finland Finland. Finland is now essentially run by women, most of her cabinet members are women and men have pretty much capitulated political power to Finnish women: https://www.bbc.com/news/stories-55020994

You know, Woke leftist men are bad enough, woke leftist women are worse. Finland will go the way of Sweden, expect sometime in the next decade or so for the gender ratio to skew heavily in favor of men, mostly African and Muslim men being imported by the all female government.

Nicholas,

I should have made special mention of Tennessee Johnson (1942). It's a favorite of mine and a special treat if you haven't seen it before.

Lincoln picked Johnson as VP in 1864 because he wanted a Southern Democrat who supported the Union. The Booth-led conspirators wanted to get Johnson as well as Lincoln (and Seward) but the man they sent was frightened and ran away. Historians note it was strange to send a coward to kill Andrew Johnson who carried a gun and was known for his physical bravery.

Johnson as president tried to bring the South back into the Union, which he claimed Lincoln had wanted. His opponents impeached Johnson for firing a cabinet member which Johnson felt he had the right to do according to the Constitution. Until the current communist historians came about, the consensus was Johnson was right.

Johnson beat the impeachment and came back to the Senate as Tennessee's elected Senator before his death.

Van Heflin gives a great performance.

Does Marin realize, when Muslims get their population close to Finns' numbers,it will be the MUSLIMS running the government--not Finnish people--which means--it isn't FINLAND ANYMORE!

See how it works in U.S. big cities. Those are African cities--not American anymore.

And it's the same everywhere--can't they see this obvious outcome?

Jeezus.
