The social scientific explanation of non-gang-related, mexican-on-mexican violence (humor)

[“father fatally shoots daughter's boyfriend during argument after night out.”]

“HPD investigators said the shots were fired after a father in his 50s got into an argument between his daughter and her boyfriend.”

“The father reportedly did not like what was being said to his daughter, so he shot and killed the boyfriend, HPD said.”

GRA: So many (non-)reasons to kill someone. This reminded me of the M*A*S*H episode titled “Mail Call,” where Klinger supposedly received a letter from his mother, telling him his father was ill—and he must come home.

Klinger goes to see Henry Blake, reads the fake letter, tearfully, to Henry, after which Henry asks, “You done?”

Henry pulls out a file and reads a list of previous “letters,” whose variations of the theme include:

“Father sick, mother dying.
“Sister sick, mother dying.
“Mother sick, sister dying.
“Father dying, sister pregnant.
“Sister dying, mother pregnant.
“Half of the family dying—half the family pregnant.”

With this as my muse, what are some of the reasons that a mex father would give to police for shooting a daughter’s boyfriend dead?

Police (in Henry Blake role): Mr. Gonzales, you’re very fortunate we don’t arrest minorities anymore. You’ve shot five of your daughter’s boyfriends dead in the last two years—why did you kill this one?

“I didn’t like what he said about her—he insulted her.”

“Well that’s not very different from previous reasons you gave. Let’s get the file out and see why you shot the other four.”

“Boyfriend disrespectful to you, knocked your daughter up.
“Boyfriend disrespectful to you, knocked your wife up.
“Boyfriend disrespectful to your daughter, knocked your MOTHER up.
“Boyfriend disrespectful to half the 30 people living in the house, the other half—he knocked up.

“Mr. Gonzales, we’ll give you another $25 ticket for THIS murder—the NEXT one—exceeding five murders in two years—goes up to $50—okay?”

“Si.”
