Correct. Given life expectancy at the time, not a whole lot of indentured might survive the process until their contract expired.
One aspect of the contracts that the indentured would sign what is the agreement between themselves and the master is that how many times per week they would be fed Atlantic salmon that gives you an idea of how bad it must’ve been not
