COLUMBO INVESTIGATES THE CLINTONS PART 2
In our previous episode,Columbo had arrested the Clintons after a three month investigation into another "suicide"--of Clinton
insider Mark Middleton.
However,the Clintons were given a ridiculously low bond amount and quickly released from custody. The next week,billionaire ally,Thomas Lee was found dead--and again--the cause of death was listed as "suicide".
A trip to the city medical examiner was Columbo's first stop--after stopping for some two dollar cigars.
Columbo interrogated the local examiner for an hour,looking at the body,before turning to leave and then just as suddenly,stopping at the door.
"Just one more thing,Mr.Medical Examiner,how long were Mr.Lee's arms--just give me an estimate?"
The medical examiner looked quizzically at Columbo,before responding, "the usual-- a little past his waist."
Columbo blew his nose,apologizing for the geese-like sound.
"About 3 feet then,sir?"
."Yes,approximately."
"So how do you explain the fact that the gunshot wound originated from a weapon fired from at least 8 feet away?"
The ME stared at Columbo,mouth agape.
"Oh,I've seen plenty of entry wounds,"Columbo smiled "and I know the difference between the impact of a bullet fired at close range and one fired farther away sir."
"I stand by my opinion,Lieutenant."
"Yes sir."
"Anything else,Lieutenant Columbo,I'm getting ready to leave for the day."
"I'll bet you are,Mr...Gore."
"No,I'm Jason Graham--the chief medical..."
"Nahhh,we both know that's not true,sir.I'd know you anywhere--I voted against you--TWICE.
The former vice president turned pale.
"I'd like to see my lawyer--Merrick Garland."
"Yessir,we can arrange that.Right now,I'm going to go to the crime scene--where Mr.Lee's body was found--and view surveillance tapes.Do you think that's a good idea,Mr Gore?"
The former Veep did his best Marcel Marceau impression.
The next day,after Columbo watched two hours of surveillance footage,the Clintons were arrested--AGAIN.

He was found dead shot, but he was also tied to a tree. I’m not sure why he is tied to a tree. Maybe he just didn’t want to fall over.
