Once upon a Time, Heather Mac Donald Sorta, Kinda, Almost Told the Truth about Crime
N.S.: For many years, An Old Friend would send me links to and excerpts from articles or books by Heather Mac Donald. I would always refuse to post them, because Mac Donald's entire career and reputation are based on lying about crime. Social policy debates these days (always?) consist of dueling lies; since the 1990s, Mac Donald has provided republican lies.
I have longtime acquaintances who went gaga over Mac Donald's book on the antiversity several years ago. But since she had such a history of lying about crime, there's no way I could quote her as a source on any other topic.
However, I have changed my mind. I used to think to myself, What am I going to do, say "This item comes from Heather Mac Donald, whose entire career is based on lying about crime and policing"?
Yes! That's exactly the way to go. Quote her, while making clear to the reader that she's a professional liar. (A polite liar, but a liar, nonetheless.)
nypd sergeant: "The perp's mother is eligible for assault three for beating up the opposing family"
If two people kick your apartment door in, and commit a home invasion, in order to commit assault and battery and maybe worse (murder?) against your person, but you instead turn the tables and beat the heck out of them, you are not "eligible" for anything, besides a pat on the back. Although police, prosecutors, and even Legal Aid lawyers (if the vic is a White, heterosexual man) routinely lie about this, the right to self-defense is still on the books, and was in 2006, when Mac Donald wrote the preceding and following words. The home invaders should have been arrested and charged with breaking-and-entering and assault-and-battery, and the apartment-dweller's son (the "knucklehead") should have been arrested for assault-and-battery against the kid.
The sergeant was simply doing everything possible to "disappear" urban crime, as I had been exposing since at least 1996.

"A Harlem sergeant describes a typical incident of non-reporting: 'Last weekend,' he says, 'a known neighborhood knucklehead hit a kid. In retaliation, the kid's whole family shows up at the perp's apartment. The victim's sisters kick in the apartment door. But the knucklehead's mother beat the shit out of the sisters, leaving them lying on the floor with blood coming from their mouths.
"'The victim's family was looking for a fight: I could charge them with trespass. The perp's mother is eligible for assault three for beating up the opposing family. But all of them were street shit, garbage. They will get justice in their own way. I told them: 'We can all go to jail, or we can call it a wash.' Otherwise, you'd have six bodies in prison for BS behavior. The district attorney would have been pissed. And none of them would ever show up in court.' So the officer sent the families packing, leaving the assaults off his ledger."
N.S.: As for them not showing up in court, that's not the sergeant's call. If they're no-shows, the judge is supposed to issue a warrant for their arrest.

100 % right about that.
But if you let street garbage accumulate,you have a public health situation--it MUST BE removed!

If you "give up" on arresting blacks for behavior that dominates their culture,you have just accepted the mindset of replacing "White law" with "black law"(no law)--which is what blacks have been screaming about for years.
It is anarchy--except where Whitey is concerned.There'll be plenty of laws on the books of "black law" for Whitey to go to prison.
