I checked on the Cannon Hinnant murder every month or so but it slipped by me until I checked today. Talk about "sweeping it under the rug" on December 29, what you call a slow news day.
Sessoms made an Alford Plea, meaning he doesn't have to admit guilt. The sentence was "Life Without Parole." Everything considered, this looks like what you call "Life Until Parole."
I've noted these murders get some initial publicity, then a news blackout, finally a trial 2-4 years later, local coverage only. This time a plea deal with the news blackout still in place. N.S.: Since when do get an Alford plea as an option, in a murder one case?

As usual, the crime is bad enough but often what goes on afterwards is the real crime.
And YES, all these notorious crimes need to be reported and then followed all the way.
