Some how it seems like watching grass grow,viewing just 100 homicides in D.C.so far.How can the demographics ever go our way at that slow pace?

CHICAGO -- Forty-two people have been shot, 10 fatally, in citywide gun violence since Friday night.

A man was killed in a shooting Friday evening in Roseland on the South Side.

He was on the sidewalk about 6:20 p.m. in the 11000 block of South Vernon Avenue when a light-colored vehicle pulled up and someone inside unleashed gunfire, police said.

The 39-year-old was struck in the chest and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name hasn't been released.

Two people were shot and killed Saturday afternoon in a drive-by in Englewood on the South Side.

About 3:10 p.m., the men, 19 and 33, were in the parking lot of a gas station in the 6100 block of South Ashland Avenue when a dark-colored vehicle pulled up to them and someone inside opened fire, Chicago police said.

The 33-year-old was struck in the chest and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The younger man was struck throughout the body and pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County medical examiner's office identified him as Jaylen Anderson.

Later Saturday night, 3 people were shot, one fatally outside the Cook County Courthouse in Little Village.

Investigators say a 31-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman were walking in the 2700 block of West 27th Street around 9 p.m. when two unknown attackers pulled up in a vehicle and started shooting.

The man was killed after being struck in the face and chest, and the woman suffered a gunshot wound to her knee. The woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Accelerated pace everywhere. The last seven months of last year more blacks killed from the "accelerated pace" than in fifty years of lynching. Do yourselves proud negroes.
