It was Indians enslaving Indians. The misleading headline was designed to make it appear as though Whites had enslaved the Indian woman. Most people don't read more than headlines.

Almost slavery in the world today consists of dark skinned persons enslaving other dark skinned person. More slaves in the world today than in 1865.
