Oh, the DOGE Dividend! Oh, the tariff rebate! Oh, how wonderful!
Because the covid stimulus checks were such a success... NOT!
Not just the money printing, not just the fact that we're broke-r than broke, but also the paperwork train wreck. irs ("oh, poor us! we're so understaffed") bending over backwards to give away money for three whole years. Here, claim your stimulus on your income tax return if you didn't get it automatically. Duh, people couldn't remember. Or they screwed up and claimed it again and then the irs didn't pay it out and they were confused because, "my refund was lower than it was supposed to be." Illegals who got a social security number or maybe two or more social security numbers, you bet they had to have cashed in big time. How many social security numbers do you think the traffickers obtained for José, aged 3 and María, aged 5, who are now on the tax returns of how many trafficked adults? (And to whom Josh Hawley wants to give a $5,000 child tax credit instead of just $2,000)?
More pigs at the trough - now some whiny emotional fake republicans are stressing out about making people pay back excess obamacare subsidy. Like if the policy costs $600 a month but you told the marketplace you were making $x and they figured you got a $500-a-month subsidy and paid only $100 a month.... but then next april you find out that you were only entitled to $200-a-month subsidy and so you owe $3,600 to the irs (12 months x $300). Another covid-era boondoggle, big reductions or total forgiveness of the payback of the excess subsidy that you weren't entitled to after all. Well, one good thing about the onebigbeautifulsh*tsandwich bill was that it put an end to the caps on the paybacks. But, of course, they didn't read the bill (as Marjorie Obama Greene admitted to not reading the bill before voting Yes.) Now there's weeping and gnashing of teeth about "unaffordable" health insurance from some republicans.
Hakeem Jeffries has to be happy. Some players on the other team are singing his tune. Ignore the rosy headlines about Schumer looking bad because of the shutdown. Our side is accepting the premise of the other side's argument. Just like they always do. The $2 trillion deficit could turn into a $3 trillion deficit really soon.
Oh, look! SLVR, silver miners ETF, it's up 6.12% today! Gold is up 1.40% today. PALL, palladium, up more than 9% today. I can't imagine why.

Strange thing, A.T., the dollar index is going up too. Figure that one out. Actually, EVERYTHING'S tearing skyward but crude oil.

PRESIDENT IS HEADED TO WALTER REED FOR HIS (SECOND)"ANNUAL PHYSICAL EXAM OF THE YEAR"
Washington — President Trump is going to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Friday morning for what the White House says is his "routine yearly checkup," just six months after undergoing what the White House at the time described as his "annual physical examination" at the same facility.
When asked, the White House declined to explain why the president is undergoing a second yearly checkup. Mr. Trump, 79, may travel to the Middle East in the days after his medical visit, the White House said Wednesday, after he announced the first phase of a peace deal between Israel and Hamas.
"On Friday morning, President Trump will visit Walter Reed Medical Center for a planned meeting and remarks with the troops," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement late Wednesday. "While there, President Trump will stop by for his routine yearly check up. He will then return to the White House. President Trump is considering going to the Middle East shortly thereafter."
The president is able to receive basic medical care at the White House from the physician to the president, but presidents typically go to Walter Reed for more extensive examinations and procedures.
The president's annual physical results as released by the White House in April showed no abnormalities, aside from minor sun damage — and scarring "on the right ear from a gunshot wound" — a result of the assassination attempt against him in July 2024. His April records also say that he had a colonoscopy in July 2024 and was recommended to undergo another in 2027.
