The bases were drunk with toronto blue jays, with nobody out, and one hit a ground ball to the federal crime dodgers' Mookie Betts, playing shortstop. Betts bobbled a sure double play ball, which forced him to throw home, and catcher Will Smith to forego the dp play at first. One of the corporate announcers then said, "good play by Mookie Betts."
After a nine-run bottom of the sixth for toronto (featuring a grand salami for Addison Barger and a two-run dinger by fatso Alexander Kirk), the blue jays are leading the federal crime dodgers, 11.2.
I'm rooting for toronto, the team that doesn't have the gambler playing for it.

UNLIKE GAME ONE OF THE ACTUAL FALL CLASSIC,LOS ANGELES TAKES GAME ONE OF THE WORLD SERIES OF MURDER,1-0.
(yahoo news)A shooting at an East Los Angeles park left one man dead and another critically injured Thursday night, authorities said.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s East L.A. Station responded to City Terrace Park, located at 1126 N. Hazard Ave., around 8:20 p.m. after receiving reports of a gunshot victim.
When they arrived, deputies found a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. They began providing medical aid until Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel arrived, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
GRA:8:20 p.m. is within the previous 24 hour counting period I use for these purposes. No murders on Thursday or Friday in the Toronto/Ottawa area, though Wednesday saw a homicide.

WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THE FOOTBALL--AND WHY?EVERYONE KICKS 50-60 YARD FIELD GOALS WITH EASE THIS SEASON
(google)This year, 77 field goals of 50 yards or longer have been made in the NFL out of 108 attempts. This is a 71.3% success rate for long-range kicks, with the number of attempts and successful conversions being significantly higher than in previous years.
GRA:Live baseball, dead baseball. 93 mph fastballs--then,now 99-104 mph fastballs--normal. 45 yard field goals used to be iffy, now 55 yarders are sure things. Obviously they've "done something" to the football.
The question is--why? Was there a demand for 60 plus yard field goals? And when the kickers miss, the attempts are halfway up the goalposts
(like today's Philly kicker, who missed a 58 yarder, clanging one three quarters of the way up the post.)
Fake football.
