Afterlife Tonight Show Clips Celebrating Johnny Carson's 100th Birthday

Ed McMahon: It's The Afterlife Tonight Show, starring Johnny Carson. I'm Ed McMahon. Tonight, we commemorate Johnny Carson's birth--100 years ago--with clips from: Jack Benny, Don Rickles, Frank Sinatra, Burt Reynolds, Dinah Shore and undead guests, Dyan Cannon and Dolly Parton. N-o-w-w, heeere's Johnny!

(Applause--standing ovation)

Carson: Thank you...thank you. Welcome to, what would have been, my 100th birthday today--and we're having a little get together--on this very stage. Our show is brought to you by the makers of Jack Daniels and Camel cigarettes--which both did me in before I hit 80.

Ed: Yessir--very true.

Johnny: We've got clips of all your favorite moments in a minute, but first, I see President Trump has demolished part of the East Wing of the White House, where the First Ladies have historically had their office. I guess Melania didn't take the hint, with that eviction notice, a week ago.

Ed: Hi yoooo.

(Johnny walks over to shake hands with Ed at the desk)

Ed: Happy birthday, oh great one.

Johnny: Thank you, oh drunk one. Should we show our clips?

Ed: Yessir.

Johnny: Remember this one when Jack Benny, Don Rickles, Burt Reynolds and Dinah Shore appeared together in 1972?

(clip starts with Burt and Dinah smooching)
Johnny: Hey Burt, it says in the National Enquirer that you and Dinah are quite an item.

Burt: Nah.

Dinah: Mmmm mmm.

Burt: Don't...mmm...believe everything you read in the...Enquirer...mmm...it's a rag.

Rickles: What does the Enquirer say about me, John?

Johnny: That Phyllis Diller turned you down.

Rickles: NOT TRUE!

Johnny: You mean...you and PHYLLIS DILLER--DID?

Rickles: THAT'S NOT TRUE, EITHER!

Jack Benny: Ohhh, Don.

(end of clip--audience applauds.)

Ed: How about the one where Frank Sinatra, Dyan Cannon, and Dolly Parton appeared on Halloween in 1976?

(clip starts)

Dyan (in Dolly Parton costume): You must be between marriages, Johnny (giggling), that's the only time I get invited on the show--plus you have a devil outfit on.

Johnny: You know me so well, Dyan. Nice Dolly Parton outfit--you know I can't resist that.
(they start smooching)

Dolly Parton: Except I'm REALLY Dolly Parton.

Johnny: Happy birthday to me--eight days LATE!

Frank: Wait a minute, I'm Frank Sinatra--who do I get to make out with?

(Rickles runs from behind the curtain, dressed as Ava Gardner)

"Choose ME, Frank--I'm so LONELY!

Frank: Get outta here, you nut--but you don't look too bad with HAIR! Come here.

(Rickles laughs and walks over, where Don gets a big kiss)

Rickles: Jeez, Frank.

(Phyllis Diller takes her Sinatra mask off)

Phyllis: Guess again--a ha, ha, ha.

(Rickles faints)

(Clip ends, birthday cake is brought out)

Johnny: Good clips, Ed--wild stuff. Well, that's our show...thanks for watching--good night, everyone.

Holy Methuselah! Doc Severinsen is still alive? I assumed he was dead but looked it up and yeah, 98 yrs. young and still going strong:

Yup, a video of him doing his daily workout routine at the gym (better take him off your dead pool list) in 2021 looking amazingly fit for a 94 yr. old.

His last performance was in 2022, you can see him here blowing up a storm at the tender age of 95:

The last survivor of the Carson era Tonight Show? I can't think of anyone else.

I've seen him in concert back then(on tv).

You'd think a trumpeter would not be a long liver, but Herb Alpert is still making appearances at close to or over 90.
