MARTIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Multiple people died in a wrong-way car crash on US-131 early Sunday morning.
At least three people are dead following a wrong-way crash on US-131 northbound near Wayland after 1 a.m. Sunday, a Wayland Fire Department official told News 8. The female driver of the wrong-way car died on scene as did the male driver and male front seat passenger of the other car, according to a release from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office.
At least three other passengers were injured and were transported to a hospital for treatment. They sustained life-threatening injuries, according to the release.
Officers from the Gun Lake Tribal Police Department and Allegan County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a wrong way driver travelling southbound in the northbound lane of US-131 from 129th Avenue in Wayland Township prior to the crash, according to the release. A Gun Lake officer spotted the wrong-way vehicle near mile marker 59 but was unable to catch up to it before it hit another car near mile marker 57 in Martin Township.
It is still unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash(GRA:Or if the driver was mex)deputies said in the release.
GRA:Near Gun Lake casino,99.9% probability of drunk driving,50% chance of being a drunk mex,though not my guess. I've never seen many of them at Gun Lake. Still,all it takes is one.
