Diane Keaton wasn't the only pretty actress who just died, but the other one was ignored (photos)

I know Annie Hall was a big deal in its day, but she's "legendary"? Give it-and her-a rest already!

Just saw this after posting:

Now THERE was an actress-gorgeous, sexy, intense, talented!
Oft times the wrong people become "legends"....

I wouldn't slam the door on Eggar, but Keaton, in the 1969 to 1985 time frame was so damned attractive and fun. Great smile and laugh (and figure).

I better re-visit some of her movies! I only saw the Woody Allen things once around 40 years ago, the Godfathers didn't do anything for me (I don't even remember her in those), Goodbar well-done but too depressing to see again (probably the most honest movie about women ever made), Reds, a boring paean to Communism...
But I'll try to schedule a tribute to her in the coming weeks.

Play It Again, Sam, Manhattan, Love and Death, I'd recommend.

Samantha Eggar and Terence Stamp in The Collector (1965). Stamp kidnaps Eggar, and imprisons her below ground, thinking that she'll fall in love with him. Instead, she dies. Twenty years later, Pedro Almodovar made movies in which men raped women, but the women always climaxed and fell in love with their rapists. However, he was a flaming fag, so he could get away with it. Plus, he had at least one "scholar" who lied for him, and then someone whispered in his ear, and he became a pc eunuch.

Tell GRA to add "Annie Hall" to his list of Diane Keaton films to watch. P.S.: There's a great line in it when the Woody character listens to Annie's spaced-out brother (played by Christopher Walken) and says, "I have an appointment back on earth, Duane."
Here's something for Halloween:

David Cronenberg's THE BROOD (1979), his best movie in my estimation. Brilliant performances by Samantha Eggar and the great Oliver Reed. WARNING: This is a violent movie, but it's meant to be disturbing, not something to get off on. It's a movie about repressed anger and child abuse. Also, the revelation about Eggar in the last 15 minutes is a one-of-a-kind gruesome shocker. Howard Shore's music is appropriately sad and moody. Not for everybody, but a classic.
Also, not exactly a horror movie, more of a psychological-suspense thriller- PSYCHE 59 (1964)- Eggar is smokin' hot seducing the husband of blind Patricia Neal (she also happens to be Neal's sister). Add THE COLLECTOR and you've got a great Halloween triple feature, and a tribute to a great actress!

Absolutely, but I believe RM saw "Annie Hall".

My favorite Woodys are unfortunately ones Keaton WASN'T in- ZELIG (unique, brilliant), STARDUST MEMORIES (the opening sequence one of the greatest of all time), BROADWAY DANNY ROSE (Charming- he nearly succeeded in turning dimwit Farrow into an actress). -but I definitely want to revisit ANNIE HALL!

More fun for Halloween-

Season 2 episode 21- "IT MAY LOOK LIKE A WALNUT"- Dead-perfect parody of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS. Brilliantly written and directed- is it a dream, or is it real? Earl Hagen's music plays it absolutely serious. If you're unfamiliar with the series, the scene of Buddy and Mel walking off arm in arm won't register- they're normally dire enemies! Danny Thomas is strange enough to be perfectly cast as an alien. In short, scary and funny at the same time- simply great!

All those you mentioned on Oct 29th are fantastic "Woody's". "Zelig" is as you describe it. I haven't seen it in 30 plus years. Those 80s and 90s "Woody's" aren't shown on tv--at least MY tv(antenna).

Add this to the Halloween playlist:

SATAN'S WAITIN'
Don't remember ever seeing this one- it really surprised me! Sylvester actually gets KILLED chasing Tweety, and ends up in Hell! Talk about something being funny and scary at the same time.... The background artwork is really impressive- the work of Maurice Noble, who designed extravaganzas like WHAT'S OPERA DOC and DUCK DODGERS (there's a book of his artwork available- another unsung genius of the cinema).
-RM
Very good cartoon, but I guess "Satan" is Yosemite Sam(Mel Blanc using the same voice for both).
I think there was a movie called,"All Dogs Go To Heaven",but according to this cartoon ,"All Cats Go To Hell''. Tom,from Tom and Jerry, the #1 most violent feline--Sylvester #2
So should Tweety for irritating Sylvester day and night.
Very few cartoon characters are saintly, lol.

Thanks for giving it a look, GRA!

MOMA (Museum of Modern Art to you furriners) had a WB cartoon festival circa 1980- every screening was packed! The cartoons were restored and the color (in 35MM) would knock your eyes out! AND- I got to see Friz Freling and Chuck Jones in person! M
MOMA (Museum of Modern Art to you furriners) had a WB cartoon festival circa 1980- every screening was packed! The cartoons were restored- the color (in 35MM) would knock your eyes out! AND- I got to see Friz Freling and Chuck Jones in person! (Mel was supposed to appear, but had to cancel due to illness). Freling was dour and taciturn, Jones was running up and down the aisle shaking hands with people! (Friz was much older than Chuck). Freling supposedly modeled Yosemite Sam after himself- rather short, and hot-tempered! What a time, to be able to see such people in person!
I think my computer screwed up, please ignore any double posting!

Why was there so much talent pre-2000 and none now? You added cartoons(which I always omit on this topic)to movies, comedy shorts, television, talk shows, music, comedians. What the hell happened? Simple de-evolution caused by pushing blacks and mex into our creative endeavors and de-emphasizing White talent?
--GRA
That question would require an essay-length reply, but I will say this: blacks once were capable of creativity in the arts, and Mexico once had a respectable cinema which aped Hollywood in style (their stars looked like our own matinee idols, not the four-foot tall illegals who work on roofing!). Those groups HAD to behave well and create viable art to thrive, just as the early black athletes HAD to excel to be accepted. Once standards of behavior and of taste went out the window....
Well, it's a long story. Maybe I'll write it someday.
-RM
No doubt,in the 1960s,blacks made some music that was catchy and popular. I propose this style of doo-wop/soul was created SOLELY for the vast White audience to buy. If you wanted to make money,Whites better have liked listening to your song.
Plus the nigs could sing.
NOW,black "music" is aimed at blacks--lyrics filled with violence and crude sexual terms. There are no melodies.
It's meant to incite.
"My Girl",in 1964,is a "Ho Bi**h" in 2025.
My analysis of that small area of the entertainment field.
