dallasnews.com: dust storm kills 3 in texas panhandle, fans wildfires
From the dallas morning news:

Like Dust Bowl days?
Ed Hosier, my former sales manager, is a native of the oklahoma panhandle.
His grandmother told him that the blowing dust during the Dust Bowl would kill babies.
the dust was so fine it was like talcum powder. would get in to every nook and cranny of a home.
Homeowners would jam wet sheets and towels around the corners of windows.
to no avail.
the dust would blow for days and still get into homes.
And then in to the lungs of babies, thereby causing pneumonia.

Who started the wildfires--ms-13 types? The arsonists just wait for a 50 mph wind to get their rocks off.

Memo from upstate NY: we don't have dust storms, but there is a fine dirt/dust in the air that gets into EVERYTHING in the house. Closed boxes, items wrapped in plastic, and of course computers, VCRs, etc., shortening their life span. Lungs too, probably. Not good, whatever it is. Closed windows don't keep it out either.
