(wiat) According to Vestavia Hills Police Department Captain Shane Ware, police responded to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church at around 6:20 p.m. after reports of an active shooter.
Authorities initially announced that one person died and two were injured. But just before 9:30 p.m., Ware said a second victim had died. The third victim is being currently being treated at a local hospital and their [their?!] condition is unknown. [She’s the 84-year-old who has since died.]
A preliminary investigation by vhpd suggests the suspect walked into the building where a group of people was meeting. The suspect then began shooting and struck three victims. He was later taken into custody and authorities say there is no threat to the community at this time.
GRA: Sounds black to me, though a quick read-through of the incident, indicated a White pastor and mostly Whites interviewed.

N.S.: The shooter is Robert Findlay Smith, 70. He was at a potluck dinner, which was a regular event at the church. Another attendee tackled him and held him down until the cops came. The third fatality was a lady, 84, who had been taken while alive to the hospital, but who didn’t make it. Smith was an occasional attendee of the potluck dinners.

The guy looked 100--White guy.A picture of him, showed a person I can safely say, wasn't enamored with life. It's bad enough when Mex and blacks shoot Whites, but when a White man does it--it's disturbing in a different way.Sympathies with the families of the deceased.
