Good News! We know how to stop mass shootings!Boring news: The media lie like they're talking about the Duke lacrosse "rape" when it comes to gunsDisregard conservatives calling for "armed guards" at schools. It's a moronic idea for the following reasons:
So what do we do? Needless to say, there have been a kazillion studies on every conceivable measure — bans on so-called "assault weapons," red flag laws, "universal" background checks, waiting periods and so on. The 50 states have tried a variety of gun laws, making it possible to draw comparisons. [N.B. This is why liberals demand federal laws on every subject: so that it's impossible to compare state laws and see what works — and what doesn't work.] Waiting periods: Women have been murdered by their exes while waiting for a gun permit. In the famous 2015 case, Carol Bowne applied for a gun license in New Jersey on April 21, checked back frequently, the last time two months later on June 1 No dice. She was still waiting for it on June 4, when her ex-boyfriend stabbed her to death . "Universal background checks" : Cut the crap, liberals. We already have "universal background checks" by any normal, human definition. Every gun sale by a licensed gun dealer — including at gun shows, including a guy selling guns out of his kitchen. (WAIT! THE MEDIA DIDN'T TELL YOU THAT??? ) The sole exception is for the private sale of a gun to a neighbor, relative or acquaintance. The only way to enforce background checks on these individual sales — e.g. a widow selling her husband's gun to her nephew — is to have universal gun registration. Which, of course, is the real purpose. Red flag laws : More than a dozen states already have these laws, and the main result is that about a third of gun confiscation orders are wrongly issued against innocent people — perhaps people like Carol Bowne, who desperately needed to enforce her constitutional right to have a gun. While "red flag" laws aren't going to stop any nut determined enough to attempt a mass shooting — the Columbine shooters had a friend purchase guns for them — officers serving a flimsy, one-sided gun confiscation order have already killed an innocent man in his own home in Maryland. The order against Gary Willis was issued the day before on the sole request of Willis's sister, with whom he was feuding . Officers showed up unannounced at 5am and demanded Willis's gun. He cooperated up to a point, but refused to give them his gun. There was a struggle and the officers shot him to death. Only one policy has ever been shown to reduce mass shootings , as found by a massive study from famed economists, William Landes of the University of Chicago and John Lott, then at Yale. They looked at all mass shootings in the U.S. between 1977 and 1995. Only concealed-carry laws deterred mass public shootings - even more than they deterred murder. |

nnn sends Gabe Gutierrez out to Philly to try to look concerned about black violence. They showed video of the Philly chaos and talked about Chattanooga(I posted something on that and then they tried to fix the problem without mentioning blacks.
"What are you going to do--what CAN be done to stop this crime wave,Mr.Mayor?(Jim Kenney)asked Gutierrez.
Kenney looked at Gutierrez as if he was crazy. You could read his thoughts--"With all these nig*ers? You've got to be kidding me."
