Stupidity on a scale unimaginable: a 35-year-old mother who (1) doesn't secure the infant in the back seat and (2) doesn't know to turn off her car's engine before opening the doors. Then the unnamed relative opens the rear door while the car is still running, and the "free-range" child rolls out onto the pavement to get squashed under the moving wheels. Darwinian selection at work, to be sure--but why does it also make me think of self-cleaning ovens?
