Just south of the hedgerow lay a cleared no-man's land.
About 50 meters into the no-man's land stood a mounted, camouflaged machine gun nest.
A 50-caliber machine gun in the nest had its snout pointed north towards the road.
Did I attempt to breach the no-man's land?

They carry a mattress to the top of the fence or wall and throw on the ground the American side. They then jump and break bones. The mattress does not cushion the impact enough.
The toss little kids from the top of the wall or fence too. Child abuse and attempted murder. Very bad people.
I have often wondered about people there first act on entering into the place USA where they hope to make a better life is to break the law.
The wall should be covered with coils of razor wire--on both sides. A lot fewer could get over and break their backs.

that is India and Bangladesh. The barrier built by India two four meter high fences with a gap between filled with razor wired. Patrolled by men on foot with assault rifles.
USA you would need an anti-tank ditch on the Mex side of the fence. Someone will get the idea to bulldoze the barrier.
NO barrier 100 % but can be highly effective against the infiltrator. Far fewer will even attempt.
