The murder of Mollie Tibbetts, the media, and other disgraces

The murder of Mollie Tibbetts, aside from being unnecessarily tragic, was also interesting for three reasons.

First was the media’s treatment of the case. During the four weeks after her disappearance, the national media was obsessed with the search for her. However, after an illegal alien was charged with her murder, the media did an about face, doing everything they could to move on to the next story.

Second was the father’s reaction. He emerged as a full-throated apologist for illegal immigration, even going as far to apologize to the illegal employer of the alien who was ultimately convicted of murdering Molly (who should be apologizing who here!).

Third, speaking of that employer, he was a Chamber of Commerce-style activist who regularly lobbied for more guest workers and increased immigration. He claimed that he used E-Verify, and the media was quick to pounce on that and declare the ineffectiveness and uselessness of E-Verify (about the only thing they did want to talk about after the illegality of the then suspect was revealed). However, he was soon caught in a lie when an audit, following the arrest of the murderer, found that he did not use E-Verify.

When this was revealed, he received death threats, which I do not at all condone. But it was these death threats that brought on the sickening and utterly contemptible apology from Mollie’s father. Again, I do not condone the death threats, but in a self-respecting nation, this employer would not have been apologized to by the victim’s father. He would have been arrested and charged with “aiding the enemy.”

Doesn't even have to be controlled by. Just debilitated severely bad enough.
