"Today (wednesday) was the first time in several days the Rochester media covered the trial. The final prosecution witnesses testify thursday. Closing arguments may begin thursday afternoon. The defense claims, "the sexual contact happened some other time."
As we have noted, Williams was age 20 at the time of the murder, or rather when he raped and murdered Wendy Jerome. In New York state, a 20-year-old man can't legally have sex with a 14-year-old girl. But as it has passed the statute of limitations, the defense hopes some jurors will buy it.
We see this defense in almost every black-on-White cold case rape-murder.
