Mexicans provide a ready supply of low-income buyers for FHA mortgages.
Look at the governor's wikipedia entry.
He founded a mortgage company.
Endless immigration growth of the poor from the Third World begets endless population growth.
which means a need for affordable housing.
And thus a need for FHA mortgages. FHA mortgages are perfect for low-income folks, buyers with marginal credit, or no credit at all. Like recent immigrants.
It is that simple.
And whether he still owns Gateway Mortgage is a moot point.
His ownership is probably held in a "blind" trust for his heirs.
So, he and his family still benefit.
Profiteering a--hole.
