While the 2016 scandal was under investigation, at least one of the suspected military members involved had fled to Mexico to avoid prosecution under a military court.

Some decades ago it had been announced that over a fifty year period about 50,000 military personnel their assignment in some manner involving nuclear weapons had lost their security clearances and access to atomic munitions. Almost all from heavy drinking of alcoholic beverage.
