TCM has had Paul Newman as May's star of the month. On Wednesday night, May 29, at 8 p.m. ET, TCM shows The Verdict (1982), starring Paul Newman, James Mason, Jack Warden, and Charlotte Rampling, directed by Sidney Lumet. Newman plays a drunken, washed-up Boston lawyer, who suddenly decides to take a medical malpractice case to redeem himself. He rejects a settlement offer without informing his clients.

Mason is a Brahmin lawyer defending the Archdiocese Hospital. By the way, there was a big-time Boston Brahmin lawyer defending Ted Kennedy at the Chappaquiddick inquest. He even used similar tactics.

At 10:15 p.m. ET, TCM shows The Mackintosh Man (1973), directed by John Huston. Paul Newman plays a British agent assigned to kill a Communist traitor who is being broken out of prison. This is based on a real-life escape. James Mason is supposedly a member of parliament, who turns out to be something else altogether.

The Macintosh Man is said to be a favorite of real intelligence agents. It also has Communists as the bad guys. The ending is a delight for those of the anti-Communist persuasion.

Red Eddie Muller has been the host for the Paul Newman movies. How will he handle The Mackintosh Man?

In the progressive paradise of Portland OR the trial of accused serial killer Homer Lee Jackson reaches CP5 levels of absurdity. https://www.oregonlive.com/crime/2019/05/prosecutors-drop-one-murder-case-add-another-in-a-new-indictment-against-accused-serial-killer-homer-jackson.html#vf-9570000018868
Jackson is now being portrayed as a hapless senile old man who was made to be "afraid" under interrogation and had promises of leniency dangled in front of him so therefore his confession is invalid. Same tactic that got the CP5 off and turned them into "folk hero's". This is going to become a standard defense for blacks, since we don't supply safe space interrogation rooms for blacks, they must be innocent, but whitey doesn't get the same consideration. One has to wonder: Who isn't afraid when they're under interrogation? Guilty or not?
One murder charge has been dropped, likely for the victim that didn't have dna evidence. 3 out of 4 of the victims had Jackson's dna on them which either means he has to be the killer or is the unluckiest mope on the face of this earth. What are the odds that he patronized the prostitutes and then they were coincidentally killed by another serial killer afterward? Millions to one?
There has been little coverage of Jackson's case, just an occasional low key article like this one with none of the hysteria when white serial killers are discovered.

I've seen most of Paul Newman's movies--not "Mackintosh Man."
I saw "The Verdict",in the movie theater, when it came out,and didn't like it as much as most of his other flicks. It was a good story and Mason was great, but the female lead,Rampling, didn't do it for me.I'll try to catch "MM"--if I remember...lol.

Undated mug shots of Randale Benjamin and Brittany Nash.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are looking for two people, one of whom is considered armed and dangerous, in connection a Monday homicide in Battle Creek.

The first person being sought is Randale Benjamin, 33, of Battle Creek. A repeat offender, he's accused of open murder and weapons charges.

The shooting happened shortly after 3 a.m. Monday in the area of Capital Avenue near Poplar Avenue. The Battle Creek Police Department says the victim, a 42-year-old Battle Creek man, got into an argument with a woman, at which point another man opened fire. The victim was shot multiple times and died at the hospital.

BCPD says Benjamin, a tall black man with a stocky build, stands 6-foot-2 and weighs about 230 pounds. He has brown eyes and short black hair. He sometimes goes by Randale Reed.

He is believed to be with Brittany Nash, 29, of Battle Creek. She is considered a person of interest; at this point, police say she is only wanted for questioning. Nash, who is white, stands 5-foot-6 and weighs about 125 pounds. She has long, straight brown hair and brown eyes.

Authorities don't have any information on what type of vehicle Benjamin and Nash may be in and don't know where they might be.

Anyone who sees Benjamin is asked to call 911. Don't approach him. If you have information about where he or Nash may be, you're asked to call.
GRA:Strangely omitted from Negro Nightly News (sarcasm). Not to be seen as a storyline on integrated TV shows, that CBS likes to produce. Why would a cute, physically fit white girl let a black thug lead her down the road to perdition?Drugs of course--my standard answer,

...and Jack Warden, one of the best."The Verdict" WAS very good --as I view it now.Back in 1982,I expected a more entertaining Newman character--got Frank Galvin.Milo O'Shea was another miscast role (with Rampling). But viewing it tonight with 2019 eyes,I liked it.
