A National City man was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison on Monday after being convicted in a scheme to kidnap Mexicans under the guise of smuggling them to the U.S., then extort money from the victims' U.S.-based families, prosecutors said.

San Diego man. Chico and the Man. I wonder what his immigration status is?
Sheriff Arpaio used to talk about this all the time. Coyote smuggles the illegals into the country. Illegals then placed into a safe house and told to call the folks back home in the old country and send more money. Money NOT sent and the illegal is found [if lucky] in the desert with a .38 Super round through the head.
